CROSS VALLY CANAL (CVC) EXPANSION
MULTIPLE PROJECTS

Project Description: Mimiaga Engineering Group provided Construction Management, Inspection, and Closeout Services to the Kern County Water Agency pursuant to multiple expansion projects along the 22 mile Cross Valley Canal (CVC) between the California Aqueduct and the Agency’s Garnett Water Purification Plant in Bakersfield. The Agency hired Mimiaga Engineering Group in 2009 to replace another Construction Management firm on several on-going and disputed projects. Mimiaga Engineering Group worked with the Agency and project contractors to resolve multiple significant disputes, we managed correction of non-compliant work, managed completion of remaining Contract work, and successfully closed-out all projects. Mimiaga Engineering Group provided Construction Management and Inspection Services pursuant to the final canal expansion project which includes a new 45 MGD turnout structure within the California Aqueduct.

The projects included:

CVC Canal Expansion and Pump Plants 2B thru 5B (CM / Closeout) – $65M
CVC Pump Plant 6B Project (CM / Closeout) – $6M
CVC Friant–Kern Intertie Project (Closeout only) – $2M
CVC Greater Bakersfield Turnout #2 (CM / Inspection) – $5M
